The Australian sharemarket posted its largest one-day gain since mid-June on Monday, with the S&P/ASX 200 adding 1.4 per cent to close at 8,894 points. BHP rose 2.1 per cent to $60.10, WiseTech Global was up seven per cent at $32.12 and Westpac advanced 1.5 per cent to end the session at $37.68. However, a fall in the crude oil price weighed on energy stocks, with Karoon Energy shedding 7.8 per cent to finish at $1.65. Myer was down 12 per cent at $0.22, while the Australian dollar edged up to $US0.70..
